Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I ' ve ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn ' t fair, but it ' s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone...
4. Your job won ' t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don ' t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It ' s more healing than crying alone.
8. It ' s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won ' t screw up the present.
12. It ' s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don ' t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn ' t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don ' t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn ' t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn ' t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It ' s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don ' t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don ' t save it for a special occasion, Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don ' t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ' In five years, will this matter? '
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don ' t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn ' t do.
35. Don ' t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else ' s, we ' d grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn ' t tied with a bow, but it ' s still a gift.
"It ' s estimated that 93% of people who receive this email won ' t forward it. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title ' 7% ' . I ' m in the 7%. Remember, friends are the family we choose for ourselves Have a good day

things that matter that make sense
"Please forgive me," "I forgive you," "Thank you," and "I love you."
Innocence: I adore it. Imagine it you are pissed off on someone for some weird behavior ( as you look at that ) and ready to blast the person for that. The person does it with good intention and explains with those innocent eyes. All your anger melts within no time and is replaced it with that affection.
Commitment: Respect it. People who committed towards their words /actions carryhigh regard. They alone can understand the respect your actions and your thoughts.
Ethics: Must in life. Life without ethical standards cannot be meaningful.
Family: They are integral part of your life. They are those people who stand by you in thick and thin. A bunch of people who will always think good for you. Also these are the people for whom you should be there always no matter what!!
Marriage: A turning point of life. It makes you selfless. You start thinking about someone else as priority than you. It is an amazing feeling.
Happiness: It is like a vitamin pill. It is like your immunity system. Every effort that makes you happy is worth going for it.
Honesty: It takes hell lot of guts to accept your fault/weak points. Unless you are honest yourself there is no opportunity to improve. There is no need to play hide and seek if your actions and intentions are good enough
Why is it that people say they “slept like a baby” when babies wake up every two hours?
If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are flat?
Why do banks charge a fee on “insufficient funds” when they know there is not enough?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Whose idea was it to put an “S” in the word “lisp”?
What is the speed of darkness?
If the temperature is zero outside today and it’s going to be twice as cold tomorrow, how cold will it be?
If it’s true that we are here to help others, what are the others doing here?
Do married people live longer than single ones or does it only seem longer?
How is it that we put a man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?
Did you ever stop and wonder……
Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, “I think I’ll squeeze these pink dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?”
Who was the first person to say, “See that chicken there… I’m gonna eat the next thing that comes outta it’s bum.”
Why do toasters always have a setting so high that could burn the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?
Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but don’t point to their bum when they ask where the bathroom is?
Why does your Obstetrician, Gynaecologist leave the room when you get undressed if they are going to look up there anyway ?
Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They’re both dogs !
Can blind people see their dreams? Do they dream ??
If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? (This one kills me !!!!)
If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from ?
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
Why do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?
Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?
Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog’s face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?
Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster?
